Depressive Black Metal outfit Ghost Bath return from touring Europe and North America in support of Starmourner (2017) and the vice-like grip of the pandemic with striking new album, Self Loather.
In many ways, Self Loather, the group’s fourth album, represents Ghost Bath’s forward trajectory (musical) and continued exploration of antipathy of the self (lyrical), but unlike any album before it and as the final piece in the Moonlover-Starmourner-Self Loather triptych, it’s the group’s most destructive yet contemplative record to date.
While that might have something to do with everyone contributing—though founding member Dennis Mikula (vocals/guitars/synths/lyrics) remains the visionary core—the unquestionable allure of Self Loather is its songs. From the raw strength of opening track “Convince Me to Bleed” and the melancholy of the strings/piano-driven “Sanguine Mask” to the grandiose horror of “Hide from the Sun” and the slow-burn groove of “Unbearable,” this is Ghost Bath at their creative best.

There will be a vinyl and tape release through Northern Silence as well but for now only the DigiCD can be pre-ordered!
We will start taking pre-orders for the MC on the Bandcamp-Friday in September. It will be limited to 100 copies, with 66 coming with grey shell and 34 with white shell. There will also be a tape version of the "Moonlover" album available for pre-order at the same time, with the same limitation.
The LP will be sold once it is available, probably at the beginning of 2022. It was planned to release it at the same time as the CD and MC but due to the extremely long lead times for vinyl pressing (9 months) that turned out to be impossible.
As this is the final Ghost Bath album that is released through Northern Silence we will have a limited wooden box available near the end of the year, entitled "The Northern Silence Years", that includes all three limited Digipack editions of the albums we released (Moonlover, Starmourner and Self Loather) as well as a metal pin, a patch and a handnumbered certificate. The limitation will be 99 copies.
